Madison Road Trip
Well, we’re off and running toward Madison, WI for some wacky hijinks with the Stewhoefers. Boom is behind the wheel, Kath is RIO, and Gertrude is the navigator. She’s been wrong twice so far, but what could possibly go wrong. Dawn, Anne, and myself are the rest of the crew that will ensure a smooth ride. I’m looking forward to good eats, tasty bevros, and great times this...
I found this quote from Steve Jobs, and I want to make sure that I have it handy. It goes something like this: “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. It’s been three weeks of practice now, and we’re starting to get the hang of it. So far, we’ve smoked: 2 pork butts 3 racks of spare ribs 2 briskets 3 racks of baby back ribs 6 chickens I think once we figured out how to hold the temperature in the pit, it’s been much easier. Today, Bryan Schumacker, Dan Lynn, and I are hopping a plane to Palm Coast.

Companies like Dwolla are forcing the old guard to take notice and react to how consumers and merchants want to do business. I will be more than happy to trade in the contents of my wallet for a virtual wallet on my phone.
Dwolla Meetup at Mars Cafe
So just yesterday, a colleague and I were wondering if there were any companies in Iowa that take payments using a smartphone rather than a traditional credit card reader. Guess who was on the front page of the Des Moines Register this morning? You guessed it, Dwolla. Mars Cafe is hosting a Meetup this evening with the founders of Dwolla. It’s a small startup here in Des Moines that...
Smoke 'em if you got 'em
As of this week, I’m a proud 1/3 owner of a Backwoods smoker. It’s currently sitting somewhere in the state of Colorado, and I’m not exactly sure when it’s going to end up arriving in its new home. I’m looking forward to learning the seductive art of smoking anything and everything.
So, here’s my first post. I’m trying to understand the dynamics of this blogging tool.
